#1 Bali Reopens to Domestic Tourists
After months of tourist limbo, Bali (finally) reopened to domestic tourists on Friday, 31 July 2020. Some 4,000 travellers arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport for the Eid al-Adha long weekend. The airport served 28 departures and 28 arrivals on Friday. Rahmat Adil Indrawa, the co-general manager of commercial operations for Ngurah Rai emphasised on strict health protocols and adapting to increasing numbers of passenger arrivals to the island.
International travellers will have to wait (and see) until 11 September for a travel bubble to emerge. Who’s ready to get back to paradise (after a WHO-recommended 14-day self-quarantine period of course!)?
#2 Bali Rated One of the Top Destinations by TripAdvisor
Speaking of Bali, Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards for the World’s Best Destination has ranked Bali No. 4 out of a list of 25 destinations. Bali is a cornucopia of experiences and everyone who has been to the island has fallen in love with it. Let us know your favourite Bali activity in the comments below.
#3 Who’s in the Mood to Tackle Mount Everest this Fall?
Nepal announced that it would start issuing permits for the peak of Mount Everest, as well as its other Himalayan mountains, in time for the autumn climbing season from September to November. After shutting down in March due to Coronavirus concerns, Nepal lifted its nationwide lockdown on 21 July. The country has 20,750 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 57 deaths at the time of publication. Well, trekking the Himalayas is one way to ensure isolation in these “don’t-touch-me-times”.
