Bookmark this guide to Pererenan in Bali, named one of Asia’s coolest neighbourhoods

Booked a trip to Bali? Make sure to visit Pererenan, a bustling neighborhood next to Canggu that’s home to some of the island’s best restaurants and cafés.

Crowned “Asia’s Coolest Neighbourhood” by Time Out in 2024, this popular enclave is well-loved by surfers riding the waves at Pererenan Beach. It’s also frequented by those in the know for its buzzing dining scene.

Curious about Pererenan? Here’s our guide so you can spend 72 hours in style.

DAY 1

Morning: Check into your villa

Begin your Bali vacation by dropping off your bags at your chosen pool villa. Our Pererenan properties are designed to impress — all you need to do is pick the villa that best matches your vacation style and group size!

Villa Tana Takah

If you’re travelling as a couple or a small family, consider the lovely two to three-bedroom properties at Anandathu Villas, which are a short drive to Pererenan Beach. Design lovers will delight in the stunning modern tropical architecture of Villa Tana Takah, crafted by Asimapra to be both photogenic and superbly cosy. Steal decor cues from this dream holiday home, which features a cocooning mix of wood and concrete; it even features a cool sky bridge that connects two buildings that house three bedrooms for up to six guests.

Villa Pantai Indah

Big families who desire proximity to the sandy stretch will love Villa Pantai Indah; it’s just 120m to Pererenan Beach. Enjoy having your own sanctuary with verdant landscaping, a laid-back atmosphere and a spacious rooftop lounge. It can sleep up to eight adults and four children, in four spacious ensuite bedrooms and a kids’ room with two bunk beds.

Villa Melissa at Pantai Lima Estate

Pantai Lima Estate’s beautiful villas offer tranquil sanctuaries for up to 10 guests each; all properties have a spacious lawn and can be booked together for weddings and other events too. Enjoy picturesque sea views from Villa Ambra, Villa Melissa and Villa Mary, paired with the luxury of having your own private pool, as well as access to the estate’s shared tennis court. In addition, Villa Ambra and Villa Melissa are just steps away from the shore.

Akashi Residence

The most indulgent is Akashi Residence. It ups the style stakes with its sleek wellness facilities and a spectacular silver pool slide. Formerly known as Boss House Bali, this remarkable villa is designed by Alexis Dornier to feature all the amenities you need, from a well-equipped gym to an ice bath.

8:30am: Café and brekkie hop

Feeling peckish? Grab a bite and start sampling the best of what Pererenan has to offer.

If you would like to grab some snacks, pop over to Bali Direct (650m from Anandathu Villas and 1.3km from Akashi Residence), a grocer which sources most of its meat, dairy, fish and pantry products from Bali; it has two locations in Canggu and Pererenan. A selection of quality, organic and gluten-free imported items are also available for items not readily found in Indonesia. A tip: you can also reach out to the friendly villa team for pre-arrival shopping for a small fee, so they can have your pantry stocked before you even step in.

Just 150m from Bali Direct is Savor, a new café that serves all-day brunch from 7.30am to 9pm. Choose to dine in or order deliveries and takeaways of its chicken and beef panini sandwiches, protein pancakes and more fun dishes.

11am: Relax at a spa

Featuring workout classes and top-notch equipment, this fitness venue also has a suite of facilities including a spa area that comes with a swimming pool, sauna and ice baths.

DAY 2

10am: All-Day Brunch

Wake up to amazing pool views from your villa, and enjoy the daily breakfast included in the room rate (which by the way, can be enjoyed ‘floating’-style on the pool upon request too!).

Kilo Pererenan offers meals from 7am to midnight, with a menu that includes dishes like breakfast burritos, duck tacos, as well as hearty nasi goreng and mie goreng.

Just across the street from Kilo is Bokashi, a lifestyle venue with a grocery shop, as well as a café and teahouse that blends its Indonesian roots with Japanese wabi sabi influences that celebrate the beauty of imperfection.

Baked

Baked is also a perennial favourite, whether you’re visiting the Berawa or Pererenan location. Housed in a converted garage, the Pererenan outpost serves all-day breakfast, pastries, juices and sweet treats from 7am to 4pm daily at its comfortable outdoor terrace that’s sheltered by oversized umbrellas.
