Luxe Loves: The Best Villas The Luxe Nomad Team Have Stayed At

It’s not too shabby a gig, being a luxe nomad. We’re fortunate to travel a lot (this is how we do it), and there’s nothing like catching up while gushing about our favourite new villas and hotels. The list could go on, but here are just five places we swear by, from one nomad to anther.

#1 Komaneka at Bisma in Ubud, Bali

A sophisticated and contemporary design that makes you feel at home

The best part: We went expecting greatness due to its prime location by the Campuhan river, but it was the service that blew us away. All the staff knew our names, prepared a platter of vegetarian-friendly dishes to suit our special diet, and restacked the cookie supply in our rooms daily. The views were magnificent as well. Every angle was photogenic, especially by the pool.

Tip: Go full-on luxe and book yourself the Masterpiece of Bisma Residence, a spacious 1,485sqm suite with three master bedrooms.

#2 Samujana in Choeng MonKoh Samui

A highlight of the villas are its expansive living and dining areas

The best part: Lazy afternoons (that spilled over to nights) spent at the outdoor veranda. We couldn’t get enough of that view, it’s not something you see everyday! Set into the hillside, the villas incorporates original rock outcrops and indigenous trees into the villas. The 1- to 8-bedroom abode has a contemporary vibe, designed by the award-winning Gary Fell of Ffab Architects,  that is everything you expect for a luxury retreat — cool, tasteful, sleek… and expensive.

Tip: Take the villa’s 43 ft. catamaran, ‘Kindred Spirit’, for a sail.

#3 Alila Villas Soori in Tabanan, Bali

Beachfront for your Vitamin Sea needs

The best part: The resort’s location in Tabanan means you’re far from raucous tourists and in the heart of ‘real’ Bali. So that ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ vibe you’re after? Right here. The resort is designed to maximise natural lighting while also minimising heat gain in the day. Top that off with some downtime at the Spa Alila and an unforgettable traditional Balinese dinner at Ombak, and you’re more than good; you’re great.

Tip: Long drives are not our favourite. Luckily, the famed Tanah Lot temple is only a 20-minute drive away and the Royal Palaces are within walking distance. So there’s your first day sorted, because we’re always a bit tired after flying into the island, right?

#4 Ki Niseko in Upper Hirafu, Niseko

ki-niseko-2745
The eco-friendly boutique ski-in ski-out resort

The best part: Sure we were expecting luxury — Ki Niseko is one the most prestigious hotels in Niseko — but wow did the beds impress us. They were unbelievably comfortable! Rooms also come with a humidifier to keep the air from getting too dry during the day and night. If there was anything better than skiing on that trip, it was the cosiness of our room (the fresh sushi comes close too).

Tip: Provide our concierge team of nomads with all your information and you’ll be able to have express check-in service. Also, do request for a room facing Mt. Yotei.

#5 Sri Panwa in  Panwa, Phuket

Villas integrated into the jungle backdrop

The best part: So many things came together to deliver one fantastic stay. The infinity pools at the pool suites that overlook the sparkling ocean, the white sand beaches, the panoramic views– it’s hard to pick just one! But it might just be Baba Nest, the stylish rooftop bar surrounded by one huge infinity pool.

Tip: Don’t leave without booking a spa day at the world-class Cool Spa, the best in Phuket.
