What better way than to jazz up the hotel with a USD18 million restoration? One of Thailand’s most iconic hotels, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, just got a fancy new face lift for its two oldest wings and boy are we impressed.
The Grand Royal Suite — the granddaddy of the whole hotel — has taken over six bedrooms and now occupies the entire upper floor. It now comes adorned with high ceilings, detailed plasterwork, a 12-seat dining room and a Victorian-inspired glass conservatory.
For something a little more modest, there are 12 new suites in the Garden Wing, designed by Thai design firm p49 Deesign. In a tasteful colonial-style, the suites feature teakwood floors, leather headboards, double vanities and botanical prints.
