We first met Nadya as one of the first few VJs on MTV Asia, and these days, the Indonesian-Australian model and actress adds another feather to her cap as an environmentalist. She made headlines by building Singapore’s first ever eco-home from scratch, then launched the website GreenKampong. Keeping busy, we managed to steal a few minutes of the mumpreneur’s time.
What’s your vacation wardrobe like?
Simple, classics pieces that are really easy to mix and match.
How do you stay entertained on long flights?
My best form of long haul entertainment is sleep! Sleep is one of my greatest luxuries as I am often so busy juggling all of my commitments.
What’s one thing definitely worth travelling for?
I love to take a solitary spiritual sojourn at least once a year. When I travel with the family, we aways try to make it a meaningful learning experience.
What’s been your favourite vacation?
It’s a tough call between Kenya and Norway. Both are so breathtakingly beautiful in their own ways. And of course, Kenya has those gorgeous elephants that will be gone in 10 years — everyone needs to go see them before they are gone!
What’s on your bucket list?
Tibet, Prague, Slovenia and Tasmania.
What’s your vacation workout routine like?
I eat, sleep, walk, capture, write, and repeat.
What’s a good destination for travellers who love luxury?
I would say a horseback Safari in Kenya or a Norwegian cruise into the arctic circle.
Best travel advice?
Go lightly, make a difference, learn something, and contribute to the local community.
How was your stay PARKROYAL on Pickering and what did you think of the suite?
I loved the thoughtfulness of all aspects of the hotel. It’s a great hotel that allows travellers to lessen their environmental impact. I love to support companies who strive to make a difference beyond a yearly CSR event. I enjoyed the clean, clear light bathed rooms that induced lots of day dreaming, from the giant floor to ceiling windows.
Care to share any tips for venturing around Singapore?
Definitely get a foot rub, and dine at these places: Angela May Food Chapters, Iggy’s and JAAN.
What’s on your travel playlist?
At the moment, I’m loving the old school vibe of Leon Bridges.
How do you capture such stunning travel Instagram shots?
First I find something that defines the location, then I play around with the proportions and use symmetry as my guide.
Treat yourself.
