Everything you need to see at Vivid Sydney 2018

Sydney’s signature light, music and ideas festival is back, and the lineup is incredible. The festival runs for 23 nights from May 25 and you could easily spend the whole month taking in a different light show, installation and show every evening. But if you don’t have that kind of time, these are our picks of the best at Vivid Sydney.

Lighting of the Sails

Australian artist Jonathan Zawada is going to light up the Sydney Opera House to turn them into kinetic digital structures.

National Maritime Museum

Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II will be projected onto the rooftop of the museum.

Aqueous

This interactive installation is made up of light-up pathways that react to people as they walk, jump or run on the tiles, and was last seen at Burning Man.

Semi Permanent 2018

The Nautilus Forest

Mazzy Star

Cat Power

Chan Marshall will be marking the 20 year anniversary of her breakthrough album Moon Pix by returning to the Sydney Opera House to perform the album in full, with her original collaborators.

Taronga Zoo – Lights for the Wild

Spend an evening at a Taronga Zoo taken over by light sculptures. The exhibition shines a light on conservation and centres around an award-winning animated film screening at the zoo’s Centenary Theatre.
