If you haven’t hopped onto the thrilling bandwagon that is Outlander, stop this nonsense and binge-watch all three seasons before season 4 hits Starz and Netflix on 4 November (that’s 5 November in the daytime for those of us in the east). FYI, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are the best TV couple since forever; no arguments against this will be accepted henceforth.
Speaking of Scots, Chris Pine puts on (or attempts?) a Scottish accent for Outlaw King, out on 9 November, and the internet is very excited about, er, something else. Also mark your calendars for 15 November, when Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hits cinemas. Jude Law as a young Dumbledore! Do you need more reasons? Okay maybe one more: the juicy backstory regarding one of Voldemort’s closest companions will be revealed.

Finally, over a year after the first single was released, the new synth-heavy (but not the dated kind) Muse album, Simulation Theory will be out on 9 November and a few songs are already up on Spotify to listen. More to ponder over: why is Matt Bellamy dressed as Mr. Bean in the music video for Pressure? And we almost can’t believe it’s taken master crooner John Legend this long to release a holiday album, but here’s A Legendary Christmas to kick off your festive mood.

Ever thought about global warming and asked yourself, how can I cool the planet? Same. The latest episode in Vox’s Future Perfect series looks into how to do so with a fake volcano (yes!). And then there’s Call Your Girlfriend, a conversation for women, by women, about women – it’s feminist, current and very much needed in this prejudiced world. On that note, you also need to listen to Believed, about how ‘the system’ protected sexual abusers like Olympic gym doctor Larry Nasser, and how he was eventually brought down (justice wins!).
Books
Becoming by former US First Lady Michelle Obama is on our to-read list this month. It’s her second book, and she gets a little more serious with topics like her time as FLOTUS and motherhood. But knowing Michelle, it’s going to be super witty! For a spot of fiction, look to Fire & Blood, George R.R. Martin’s comprehensive history about the Targaryens, out on 20 November. Also coming out on the same day is My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. Girl likes a guy at work. Girl’s sister has already killed three boyfriends. Now guy at work is interested in girl’s sister, and girl needs to figure out who she wants to protect. Life is hard.
