The basics

You can’t go wrong with a Bali villa if you’re in for a relaxing holiday. Umah Tenang in the quiet village of Seseh has 4 bedrooms and living spaces spread across two floors, and a 20m swimming pool.

Who it’s for

Umah Tenang literally means ‘quiet home’ in Indonesian, and so it makes a great home away from home for those who are here for the chill side of Bali. Families with children will also enjoy a relaxing stay (it should be pointed out that high chairs and cots are not provided in the villa, but should you need any baby equipment, our concierge team can help you with that after you’ve made your booking).

Location

From Ngurah Rai International Airport, Umah Tenang is an hour’s drive past some of Bali’s bustling streets, so be sure to take in the sights on the way. You’ll know when you’re in Seseh village when there’s nothing but rice fields to your left and right. The villa itself is a 5-minute stroll to the nearby Seseh Beach, which has black sand and really gorgeous sunsets – bring your cameras!

The best bits

Umah Tenang is fully staffed with a team to cater to your every need, and even recommend a few things for you to do nearby. Every room in the villa is beautifully furnished. There’s plenty of space for the whole family to unwind over boardgames or while taking a dip at the pool.

All bedrooms have king-size beds, and one of the ensuite bathrooms has a pretty outdoor shower. Did we mention there are standalone bathtubs for that much-needed soak? Don’t forget to pack bath salts! Oh and of course, there’s free WiFi (we can almost hear you cheering).

A gazebo by the pool gives you a nice shaded area for early breakfast, and the hammock there will be one of the most fought-over features of the villa.

A lovely balcony outside one of the bedrooms has a coffee table for two – we’re thinking it’s perfect for couples who want to step away for a quiet afternoon tea by themselves. Bookworms can camp out in the cosy library to catch up on some reading.

Food & drink

What’s a luxury villa stay without private chef services? Seseh Village has a few small family-owned restaurants and food stalls, but if you’re planning to stay in the whole time, request for a private chef to prepare meals for you, at an extra charge (excluding grocery cost and handling fee). Dietary requirements can be discussed, so have a quick chat with the Umah Tenang villa manager to sort all this out beforehand. Your stay comes with complimentary welcome drinks for all guests.

What’s nearby

If you’re planning on going out, we recommend taking a drive out to Canggu, where you’ll find more hipster cafés than you can fit into your schedule. Sidenote: Bali’s burgeoning café scene is one to compete with, so continental palates (and millennials) will definitely find something to their taste. As for sightseeing, be sure to put the scenic Tanah Lot Temple on your list – it’s only 20 minutes from the villa by car. There are also a number of kid-friendly excursions families can check out in Canggu.

Book your stay at Umah Tenang now from USD 300++/night.

Andrea Tim

Andrea is a serial kopi peng drinker (for fun, not for the caffeine; coffee doesn't wake her up) and believer in keyboard shortcuts. She sees The Dress as blue and black, and hears both Yanny and Laurel. Make of that what you will.
