#1 Bring the kids to the world’s first Pusheen Café
When: 6 January – March 2019
Where: Kumoya, 8 Jln Klapa
This beloved chubby cat you probably know from using Facebook stickers is coming to town in the best way. Japanese café Kumoya will host a pop-up café dedicated to all things Pusheen for a limited time only – the interiors will be redecorated, too. Even if you’re not a fan, we’re sure you know a few kids (and adults who are young at heart) who do, and in any case, there’s never been a better time to do this for the ’Gram.
#2 Celebrate Pongal Harvest Festival
When: 15 – 18 January 2019
Where: Little India
For a heartwarming burst of culture, stick around Little India over these dates to see how Pongal Harvest Festival is honoured by the Tamil community. Light displays are certainly going to be part of the celebrations, but there’s also going to be other events, performances and workshops.
#3 Track BTS down
What: BTS World Tour: Love Yourself
When: 19 January 2019, 7pm
Where: National Stadium, 1 Stadium Dr
The bad news: if you haven’t already gotten tickets, the Singapore leg of Korean boy band BTS’ World Tour is all sold out – to no one’s surprise! The good news: they’re in town! So put your investigate caps on to stalk track their whereabouts (see if you can’t catch them at Changi Airport).
#4 Get artsy
What: Singapore Art Week
When: 19 – 27 January 2019
Where: Various locations across Singapore
Art Takes Over – that’s the theme of the upcoming 7th edition of Singapore Art Week, where you can expect a plethora of activities for everyone, from serious artists and art collectors to the curious newcomer. The festival will be held all over Singapore, so it would be useful for you to download the Visit Singapore Travel Guide app to keep in touch with the week’s events.
#5 Watch the Civic District light up
What: Light to Night Festival 2019
When: 18 January – 24 February 2019, 5pm to midnight
Where: Singapore’s Civic District
Consider this an extension of Singapore Art Week. The Civic District will play host again to a 6-week-long urban art festival that will showcase indoor and outdoor installations. Events kick off in the evening and this can only mean one thing: light shows! Neighbour institutes National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, Asian Civilisations Museum, the Esplanade Park, Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall are all part of this festival.
#6 More light shows!
What: i Light Singapore
When: 28 January – 24 February 2019, 7.30pm-11pm (Sun-Thu), 7.30pm-12am (Fri-Sat)
Where: Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade
’Tis the season for light shows, clearly. The iconic waterfront promenade is going to be transformed by this sustainable light art festival as part of Singapore’s bicentennial celebrations, so be sure to head there with your cameras!
