The Details
Recently Gabi, a member of The Luxe Nomad‘s concierge team, stayed at Kira Kira in Upper Hirafu, Niseko, Japan.
Kira Kira is a complex consisting of studio, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments located 500 metres from Grand Hirafu’s Ace Family Quad Lift.
For this review, Gabi stayed in one of Kira Kira’s 2-bedroom apartments.
The Vibe
Red, white and black all over!
From the moment we checked in to the ultra chic and contemporary Kira Kira, we felt at home. From the amazing host, who made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay, to the beautiful modern designs and virtual fireplace, Kira Kira is great.
The unit itself is super stylish, yet surprisingly cosy. The heated floors were a big plus!
And the views! Our unit at Kira Kira was surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows which provided natural lighting and an awesome 360 view of Niseko.
The Room
The 2-Bedroom unit we stayed in includes one master bedroom with ensuite and fabulous views of Mt. Yotei. The second bedroom had tatami-style mattresses, which were surprisingly comfortable.
The unit had everything we needed, with great appliances, including laundry, and all the amenities you could ask for (we even bought meat and had a mini yakiniku night).
The Location
One of the best parts of Kira Kira is the location. As it is located in Upper Hirafu, it was so convenient to walk around to get to all of Hirafu’s facilities, restaurants and bars. Nothing was more than a 10-minute walk away, with some restaurants and the convenience store only 150 metres from the apartment.
The Ace Family lift is about a five-minute walk, though it felt further when we carried our gear up – we stored everything in Kira Kira’s ski room. There are free shuttles, however, if you don’t want to walk. Going back was a bit better as it is possible to ski back along a service trail from the main Hirafu Gondola!

The Service
The staff were very accommodating. We arrived an hour late to Kira Kira, but they waited for us to arrive, even though it was quite late at night. The personalised check-in inside the unit was very quick, with our details sent beforehand. All we had to do was fill out some forms and photocopy our passports.
Dereck was our host during the trip, and he made sure we got everything we needed.
Really, there is nothing we could fault any of the staff for.
Our Favourite Part
It is really tough to beat the location of Kira Kira. When you’re skiing, is there anything better than being able to ski right up to your accommodation or just step directly into town to find food? We loved it!
Kira Kira is perfect for the adventurous nomads, families and couples looking for a modern stay with easy access to everything.
