The Mid-Autumn Festival is nearly here (13 September!), and that means our favourite treats are back in stock! Here is where you should be going to find the best mooncakes in Hong Kong.

What’s on offer: The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong’s kitchen is once again creating its scrumptious egg custard mooncakes. The hotel has collaborated with the Savannah College of Art and Design HK to create two special-edition boxes – one with stars around the moon and the other showcasing a moonlit reunion between lovers.

Price: HK$398 – HK$428 per box of eight mooncakes. Add a six-pack of 15-year vintage ripe Pu-erh tea to the set for HK$728 per box.

What’s on offer: One of Hong Kong’s favourite mooncakes, these bad boys range in flavour from vanilla to red bean and White Lotus Paste with Salted Double Duck Egg Yolks. There are low-sugar alternatives, if you’re into that sort of thing. Each box comes in clean, and jewel-like burgundy or royal blue.

What’s on offer: The folks behind the Intercontinental’s Two-Michelin-starred Yan Toh Heen have created some rather exciting delights for this year’s festival. Mooncake offerings include Iberico Ham and Mixed Nut Mooncake, Double Egg Yolk Mooncake, and Custard Cream Mooncake.

What’s on offer: The chefs of T’ang Court, Ming Court and Yat Tung Heen have come together to create The Langham’s Ming Mooncakes. The mooncakes feature Mini Custard Egg Yolk Mooncakes, as well as a kumquat variety. The mooncakes come in a collector’s box full of colourful illustrations by Vivian Ho.

What’s on offer: This year, the Royal Park Hotel is offering classic Egg Custard and Lotus Seed Mooncake varieties, and low-sugar White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncakes with Pine Nuts. If you want to spread the joy, go all out with the Deluxe Mid-Autumn Festive Hamper which includes abalone, chocolate, nuts and fruit along with a box of mooncakes. The mooncakes come in a colourfully illustrated box by local artist Messy Desk. The boxes pay tribute to Lion Rock spirit.

The mooncakes come in two signature gift boxes, including a holographic lantern gift box that holds eight cakes.
