Turn Down the Night
Light a Lantern, Make a Wish
Patong Beach
Patong Beach and Bangla Road are usually blocked off for festivities for New Years. There’ll probably a floating stage and music acts throughout the night. You will probably come across groups of bucketeers – if that’s your scene.
Surin Beach
Surin Beach turns in a gigantic party complete with barbecues, live entertainment, fireworks, and a copious amount of alcohol. Paris Hilton once spent New Years here… If that gets your juices going.
The other beaches
Most of the other beaches don’t have organised parties which could be exactly your style if you’re more in need of a chilled out New Year’s Eve. Kata, Kamala, Karon, Bangtao, etc. don’t typically have big, wild, gatherings of alcohol fuelled ravers but are more Bring-Your-Own-Party spots where you’ll find small pockets of people with their own fireworks, floating lanterns, drinks and more. Why not have New Year’s your way?
Safety Issue to Be Aware of
Fireworks are not difficult for the ordinary individual to get their hands on in Thailand. Be aware of where you are and those around you at all times. You should be ready to move to a safe distance should you notice anything a bit off.
We’ll be updating this list as parties are confirmed. Check back in as more details come through!
