While others chose to kick off the winter season at Aspen, Colorado – supermodels Kelsey Merritt and Jasmine Tookes ventured further into Asia. Known for having the softest powder snow in the world, there’s no surprise as to why Niseko was their chosen destination!
Together with their closest friends, these former Victoria Secret models definitely made the most out of their stay by exploring the best spots in town. Their 5-night itinerary was jam-packed with exhilarating afternoons spent on the slopes, restaurants that tantalised their taste buds, and night caps at stylish bars.
LUXURY LIVING at Niseko Kyo
It only seems fitting that a pair that is as stylish and elegant as Kelsey and Jas should stay in an accommodation that is sophisticated and chic. Niseko Kyo is one of the newest, most luxurious, ski-in and ski-out aparthotels in town.
With only 22 units, each with their own private onsen (except for studio rooms), an in-house restaurant, and direct access to the Ace Family Run, this was the perfect accommodation for them. For 5 nights, they called the Penthouse at Niseko Kyo their home and surely took advantage of its prime location, breathtaking views, and private onsen on the balcony.
LUNCHTIME FAVOURITES: Niseko Sanroku Jingisukan and Roketto
First lunch was spent well with a delicious Genghis Khan feast. Also known as Jingisukan, this is a special BBQ meal that is usually prepared grilled with a side of a variety of vegetables. Enjoy plates of Japanese Wagyu and other tender meats with a cold, refreshing glass of Sapporo Beer. Roketto, on the other hand, is a casual lunch noodle bar located at another ski-in and ski-out property, The Maples Niseko. Their dishes are infused with inspiring flavours from Singapore. Enjoy these bowls filled with umami to the brim while enjoying the views of skiers and snowboarders gliding down the hill.
DINNER DELIGHTS at Kuttei, Ebisutei, Kitchen, and Sushi Kato
After a full day spent on the slopes or just walking around town, dinner was surely the meal that was much awaited. Kuttei brings authentic Hokkaido cuisine through fresh seafood and mouth watering sushi. Ebisutei is a quaint izakaya restaurant that serves all your Japanese cuisine favourites from sashimi to Hokkaido-style fried chicken.
Kitchen is a sister restaurant of Michelin-chef owned Kamimura, that serves elegant family-style dishes. Lastly, Sushi Kato is a limited seating restaurant that provides an authentic and gastronomic culinary journey, using only the freshest ingredients.
APRÈS-SKI at Bar Gyu+, Musu, and Freddie’s
Can’t go to Niseko without exploring a little bit of the night life! Luckily, there are many great options to try out, each with their own unique personality. Bar Gyu+ is most known for its iconic fridge door entrance hence getting the nickname “Fridge Door Bar”. This bar has a very intimate and warm ambiance with a delicious menu of crafted cocktails, sake, and whiskey.
Picture a cosy atmosphere paired with delicious bistro food and cocktails, that is exactly what you will find at Musu. A crackling fireplace, comfortable sofas, and mood-setting music, this is a great space to relax after a full day of adventure in the snow. When the night calls for lively music, Freddie’s is the place to be. Enjoy some grilled meats with a Western saloon vibe and get your dancing shoes on!
