If you’re into yoga and believe in the 7 Chakras within your body, it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to believe that mother Earth has 7 Chakras as well. Coinciding with places that have been worshiped for centuries, in more recent times the Earth’s Chakra energy points have become places of pilgrimage for those wishing to ‘tune-in’ to their higher powers. A bucket-list for the new-agers out there, let’s go down that rabbit hole.
#1 Mount Shasta – The Root Chakra
Where: Northern California
What: Also known as Muladhara, the root Chakra is found at the base of the spine and associated with the colour red. On earth this Chakra is associated with a volcano in the Casacade Mountains and has been a revered holy site for Native Americans long before new-agers came along. With a supposed energy-vortex akin to Sedona, the power of the mountain’s energy seems like something out of ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ with several reports of people having been inexplicably drawn to the mountain from thousands of kilometres away for no reason. Muladhara is the most primitive of the Chakras and is considered energy without form or structure – a geyser of life that requires another Chakra before taking form.
#2 Lake Titicaca – The Sacral Chakra
Where: Bolivia/Peru
What: The orange coloured Svadhisthana Chakra is located just below the navel and is often associated with the womb and/or sexual energy. Known to have some of the strongest magnetic energy on earth, Lake Titicaca was a sacred space for the Inca, particularly the ‘Isla del Sol’ at the southern end. All seven of earth’s Chakras are connected by two ‘Ley lines’ of energy – one feminine (the Dragon serpent), and one masculine (the Rainbow Serpent). Traversing the Earth through parabolic waves, these Ley lines only intersect at Titicaca, and Bali.
#3 Uluru – The Solar Plexus Chakra
Where: Australia
What: The Manipura Chakra is associated with the colour yellow and resides in the body above the navel behind the solar plexus. Considered the centre of dynamism, energy, willpower, and achievement, on earth this is manifested at Uluru where the Rainbow Serpent Ley line supposedly emerges from the ground. Long sacred to Australian Aborigine, in the ancient creation ‘dreamtime’ legends there is a tale of a ritual that has yet to take place on Uluru, and when complete, perfection will spread throughout the world and death will end. Predicted to occur in 2020 during the rare Saturn-Pluto conjunction, here’s looking at you 2020.
#4 Glastonbury – The Heart Chakra
Where: England
What: The heart Chakra, Anahata, is represented by the colour green, and is the emotional Chakra – teaching us the most important energy we possess is love. Residing on earth in the area around Glastonbury and Shaftsbury it should come as no surprise that the indie-music festival of the same name only rides the coattails of this energy-centric site. Legend has it that the Holy Grail – which grants those who drink from it eternal life – is hidden at Glastonbury, and the site has been shrouded in mystery, conspiracies, and legend since King Arthur’s time.
#5 The Pyramids of Giza – The Throat Chakra
Where: Egypt
What: Unique among all other Earth Chakras, the pyramids don’t fall on a Ley line of energy. The Vishuddha chakra – typified by the colour blue – is known as a spinning vortex of energy that is the voice of the Earth. Many believe that the constant wars and tragedies in the middle east are a physical manifestation of the mother Earth calling us to come to consciousness and follow the light. As the pyramids have always been a subject of energy, extraterrestrials, and mystery, it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that their locale should be a hot-spot of psychic energy.
#6 The Aeon Activation Centre – The Third Eye Chakra
Where: Currently in Western Europe
What: More commonly known as the sixth sense, Anja is the Third Eye Chakra and is associated with the colour indigo. Hard to peg down, the third eye moves with the earth’s rotation westward every zodiac cycle and is currently hovering somewhere around western Europe. Opening portals, seeing beyond, or just giving you that general heebie-jeebie Déjà vu vibe, you can thank Anja for an increase in psychic abilities. As earth moves into the age of Capricorn (we are currently in the age of Pisces) the Third Eye should be found near Recife, Brazil.
#7 Mount Kailash – The Crown Chakra
Where: Tibet
What: A holy mountain for centuries for four religions: Bön, Buddhist, Hindu, and Jainist, mother earth’s Chakra Sahasrara is the Chakra of truth and connection with divinity. Typified by the colour violet, the 7th Chakra’s physical locale is about ultimate enlightenment. Every year thousands of devotees make a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash where it is believed that if you circumambulate the peak (a 52 km trek) it will bring you good fortune. As the highest of earth’s Chakra centres, Mount Kailash also enjoys it’s fair share of controversy with conspiracy theorist (and new-agers) claiming the mountain is a man made pyramid hiding government secrets. Whatever you believe, the energy and significance of the mountain to mankind should rank high on the spiritual bucket-list.
I don’t believe in this fanatically but as I know in England where the throat chankra is and in Hungary, Dobogoko where the Earth’s heart chakra is. What the Dalai Lama also comfirmed.
Thank you. Would love to visit all these places and feel the energy!
Regarding papaya, I used to hate it too, but have done a complete 180, one of my favorites:)
