Luxe stay: Beachfront beauty at Rosewood Phuket

The vibe

Staying at Rosewood Phuket is like escaping to your own private resort. The surrounds are beautiful – beach in front of you, forest behind, the Andaman sea all around. The space is open, light-filled and done up in warm woods and incredibly tranquil.

The rooms

We stayed in an Ocean View Pool Pavilion for two: king-sized bed, living area, bathroom (double vanities and rain shower!) and outdoors courtyard (huge bathtub!).

Our tip: book yourself onto the highest floor so you can take full advantage of the privacy of your sun terrace and infinity pool. By which we mean: naked sunbathing and skinny dipping, while overlooking the Andaman Sea.

The food (and drink!)

We loved the variety of the breakfast menu, and the generosity of the portions. Don’t be scared to make special requests if you have dietary requirements or just fancy something different – healthy juices, decaf coffee, we even asked for a dirty coffee, and it was no problem.

Food across the restaurants is great, and they farm their own crabs, fishes and grow organic vegetables. Make sure to have at least one meal at Ta Khai, where they plan the daily menu around the freshest catch. And stay on for cocktail hour, because the cocktails are excellent, and the bartenders very knowledgeable and helpful. We had fresh piña coladas every day, made with all natural and fresh ingredients (and no sugar, per our request).

The service

One of the best parts about Rosewood Phuket is the service – top notch and personalised to your needs. Everyone we spoke to was incredibly accommodating and helpful. We mentioned that we were celebrating a special anniversary and unexpectedly, they set up a surprise anniversary cake, roses petals on the bed and candlelight roses petals in the bathtub on the night prior to departure. It was a lovely surprise!

Wellness

We threw ourselves headfirst into the great lineup of wellness activities at Asaya, the inhouse spa, and did not regret it. Top of the list: the wellness workshop with famed holistic healer Steve Harvey (he’s worked with Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lopez, among others). The workshop focused on identifying the root causes of stress in our life, and how to manage our responses to them. Then there was the sound therapy (we fell asleep within seconds!) and sunset yoga in the forest. It was absolutely beautiful, though we would definitely recommend taking all the precautions against mosquitoes! There’s also sunrise yoga, Zumba, beach boot camp and a huge variety of fitness classes to take part in.

Our favourite part

The huge outdoor bathtub that can fit two people in it!
