The Details
Recently Gabi, a member of The Luxe Nomad‘s concierge team, stayed at Yorokobi Lodge in St Moritz, Niseko, Japan.
Yorokobi is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom chalet suitable for up to five guests (but preferably four – more details below). One bedroom is on the main floor and the other by the downstairs entrance.
The Vibe
The modern design of Yorokobi is exceptional with lots of light wood and minimalist interiors.
The living area is cosy and a phenomenally comfortable place to spend time, with an enormous window with views of the snowy woods.
The chalet feels so serene and peaceful, a real getaway from the busy Hirafu area.
The Chalet
The bedrooms are lovely, with lots of closet space. We loved the giant window in the master bedroom and the incredible great views of St Moritz village, Mt Yotei, and the rolling golf course beyond.
There is also access to a futon for a fifth guest in case you have one. The futon for the fifth guest would be positioned in a nook in the hallway, so we advise that Yorokobi is best suited for four or fewer guests.
Everything about the property was very sleek and luxe, even for the minimalist 2-bedroom accommodation. The appliances were the best of standards, with trusted name brands. It was so easy to get inside with the digital lock code!
There is also a ski storage room just off the main entrance, making stashing your gear away very simple!

The Location
Located in the tranquil area of St Moritz, the chalet is about a quick 3-minute walk to the town’s restaurants and bars. It’s 18-minutes to the nearest convenience store, however. So, if you plan on cooking at Yorokobi, we recommend you call the shuttle service (more on this below) and stock up on food.
The Service
Yorokobi is not that close to the slopes, restaurants or any other establishments beyond those in St Moritz, so we advise people to rent a car for their stay.
We did not have a car, however, and this still worked well! The staff has a complimentary pick-up service that runs between the hours of 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM. They were wonderful about taking us wherever we wanted to go. This made it easy to get around.
The shuttle service needs to be booked in advance as it is run on a first come, first serve basis.
Our Favourite Part
The architecture and interior design were superb. It had a truly luxurious feel even for a small home. We loved the seclusion from everything and how cosy the home felt.
This cabin in the woods is perfect for couples who want privacy and a peaceful stay away from the hubbub of Hirafu.
