Located in the trendy area of Seminyak and only 100 metres away from the beach, Luna2 Studios is a young-at-heart hideaway perfect for jet-setting lunatics. Luna2 Studios resembles what a ‘hotel of the future’ may have looked like in the 1960s. We can go on and on about how this ‘studiotel’ is a stunner – the 27 metre pool is amazing – but it’s not all about retro glamour for Luna2. Their efforts in going green extends to recycling waste, using low voltage lighting, supporting local farmers by purchasing from them when possible, and even growing herbs from their own rooftop. There’s so much to appreciate about this unique and extraordinary hotel in Bali. Here’s the 411 on what you need to know about this hotel we love:
Location: In the fashionable Seminyak, Bali
What is it: Resembling modern Bali, Luna2 Studios is an ultra-intimate ‘studiotel’ named after the Soviet Union spacecraft that was the first to land on the moon in 1959.
What to expect: Think Rubik’s cube and Lego bricks. You will find retro-radical colour blocking all over the studio. Designed by owner Melanie Hall, you will find funky and cosmic spaces, plush pads, a restaurant, Lunaplex 16-seat cinema, Fuel Station and Pop! lounge bar.
Who stays here: Sleek and artsy Nomads with a flair for fun, style and nostalgia
Number of Rooms: 14 open-plan studios in signature Luna2 design – modular furniture, a Brionvega television and colourful Smeg fridge (it doesn’t get any more retro than this!), artworks by Dutch artist Irene Hoffand, and cool amenities such as a preloaded iPod with tunes that will keep you in a good mood throughout your stay.
Favourite Room: Sunset Studio – it has a second balcony that truly upholds its name, with killer views of the ocean and the sunset. You’ll love this party pad complete with a bar and bartender on request.
Eat/Drink: Dine at Orbit with chef Brenden Peace customising British classic dishes; Drink at Space, a rooftop bar; Also, check out their underground wine cellar, which will surely appeal to wine lovers.
TLN says: We love the Fuel Station, a fitness centre with everything from personal-training sessions to poolside massages. Tip: Poolside, try their cocktails spiked with popcorn!
*Note: Watch out for Luna2 Studios’ debut in The Luxe Nomad. Just two more weeks left!
