#1 Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Check into: Gaya Island Resort
Malaysia has a lot of gems and islands, and ‘Gaya’, which means style in the Malay language, is spot on. Set on an island within a marine park, this resort looks like a page out of a travel magazine! And they’ve got a very eco-inspired philosophy; with sheltered coral reefs, protected mangroves and rainforest backdrop intended to restore balance to guests and the nature surrounding them. What’s good here for fun? Check out the watersports like stand-up paddling, ‘tribal games’, Borneo culinary class and the Gaya Island Resort Marine Centre, which conducts turtle rescues and coral restorations, educating kids about environmental impact on them.
How to get there: Fly int Kota Kinabalu International Airport and take a 20-minute-long taxi ride to Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal. From there, guests are transported via speedboat to Gaya Island Resort.
#2 Hoi An, Vietnam
Check into: The Nam Hai Premiere Luxury Resort & Villa
This side of Vietnam is great for families with kids, and we think that The Nam Hai makes a trip here all the more inviting — although you shouldn’t confuse your personal butler for a babysitter. Inspired by 2,500 years old of history, The Nam Hai’s architecture and interior design dramatically models itself on the elements of wind and water from ancient feng shui philosophy and the grandeur of the Tu Doc royal tombs of Hue. Plus, did you know that Hoi An is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Now that’s a good history lesson for the kids.

#3 Ubud, Bali

Perfectly symmetrical rice paddy fields, the calming sound of river streams and that gorgeous jungle view — how could you not feel miles away from stress in a place like Ubud? Villa Ria Sayan is a 2-storey villa furnished with antique Indonesian furniture and artefacts, hand woven textiles and local Balinese crafts. The villa has spacious, living and dining areas, and yes, a swimming pool!
How to get there: Villa Ria Sayan is a 60-minute drive from the airport and 10-minute drive from Ubud.
#4 Niseko, Japan

March is, as we say, the best time to ski for families, and here’s why. The brand new Haven Niseko is just as incredible as the powder outside. It’s a boutique chalet-hotel located conveniently in Middle Hirafu with studio suites, 2-bedroom and 4-bedroom apartments, as well as two exclusive 5-bedroom penthouses. And there’s WiFi, which you know, is important no matter where you are.
How to get there: Fly into the New Chitose Airport and take a 2.5-hour-long drive to Hirafu or a 3-hour-long JR Train ride to Kutchan station, and await your arranged transfer to Haven Niseko (The Luxe Nomad will sort it all out for you, along with lift passes, ski lessons and equipment rentals).
#5 Weligama, Sri Lanka
Check into: Villa Mahela
Sri Lanka is really beginning to thrive under the travel spotlight now. It’s a great, unspoilt place to visit for anyone, really. But one of our own Nomads just had her own family vacation in Sri Lanka and swears by it! Villa Mahela, set amidst the lush jungle countryside, is slightly elevated so you can enjoy expansive (and expensive) views and cool breeze drifting off the ocean. The surf break at Weligama is approximately 5 minutes away by tuk-tuk and is one of the best in Sri Lanka!
How to get there: Fly into Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, the main airport in Sri Lanka. The villa is a two-hour drive away from the airport, and transfers can be arranged upon request at an extra charge.
