From hot dog cart in Madison Square Park to the world’s best airport. Shake Shack announced on 10 October that it will be opening its very first Singapore outlet in 2019.
You’ll find it in Jewel Changi, the upcoming massive airport extension that will feature recreation, dining, and shopping attractions – there’s a 40m Rain Vortex that will become the world’s tallest indoor waterfall when it’s up and running in the Canopy Park. Yes, an indoor oasis with real trees, in keeping with Shake Shack’s humble origins in NYC’s Madison Square Park.

Shake Shack also other outlets in Asian cities, including Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong. What to expect from the Jewel Changi edition: the same hallowed signature juicy burgers, crinkle-cut fries, beer, wine and ice cream from a non-halal menu.
Mention US burgers and Shake Shack definitely comes up next to other cult names like In-N-Out and Five Guys. In-N-Out has teased Singapore with pop-ups before, and they sold like hot burgers cakes, so a permanent Shake Shack is likely to cause a frenzy, too.
In other news, Burger King is thinking of expanding to sub-Saharan Africa. (Hurrah?)
