Siem Reap's Stylish New Sleep

Right in the middle of Siem Reap

Psssst…guess what? We’ve got the latest scoop and sale on Siem Reap’s newest (and most stylish) hotel – Park Hyatt Siem Reap. We asked our friend and travel specialist Ben Wilson from Sydney, Australia to tell us what he thought of this amazing boutique hotel. Here’s what he had to say:

“The newly rebranded Park Hyatt Siem Reap opens its doors for an amazing stay that you will remember for years to come. Being one of the first guests since the new opening I was impressed with every single element of this property.

As you walk in through the main entrance, you’ll pass the lobby and the lounge where the space opens up to the main courtyard of the hotel. The feature here is the ancient Banyan tree that acts as a centre piece of the entire property. This relaxed setting is a total juxtaposition from the bustling streets of Siem Reap. For the next four nights, I was home.

Location

Set right smack in the heart of the old city, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap could not be placed in a better location. Step inside the hotel and you feel like you are cut off from the rest of the word, but once outside, a short walk takes you to the busy night markets, pub street as well as many boutique shops and bars. Just what every traveller is looking for!

Accommodation

The Park Hyatt Siem Reap has 108 rooms, ranging from standard rooms all the way up to their signature suites. They are all amazing thanks to their individual interiors but I would definitely recommend either the 2 bedroom Pool Suite which comes with its own private plunge pool, or the Presidential Suite if you are traveling as a group or family or want something with that extra special luxe touch. Both these suites come with a private butler and private garden.

Facilities

This boutique property offers first class facilities all round, but I especially enjoyed the lap pool on the ground floor and the amazing free form infinity-edged pool (half outdoor and semi-indoor) on the first floor. Surrounded by lush gardens, you can also enjoy the food service menu and cocktails from the Glasshouse Deli while relaxing on the sun loungers.

The Park Hyatt Spa was the highlight of my trip, apart from touring the ruins, of course. From the minute you book your treatment, be prepared for a peaceful retreat and the maximum feeling of relaxation and wellness. Why not try the 3-hour Purity Spa Package, a cleansing and replenishing sequence that blends Cambodian healing touch with the Apsara Scrub, Palm Wrap and an active massage?

Restaurants & Bars

The Park Hyatt Siem Reap has done very well in keeping to the French and Cambodian theme throughout the hotel and the restaurants are no different. The Dining Room is the main restaurant, and is located on the ground floor beside the courtyard, looking out onto the beautiful Banyan tree. We dined here twice for dinner during our stay; make sure you ask for the fish amok which is a traditional Cambodian dish and one of the best during our stay!

The Glasshouse Deli & Patisserie is a little gem in the city. Its menu features freshly made sandwiches and pizzas as well as its very own little ice cream bar and is great for a quick snack or a coffee while you people watch on the streets of Siem Reap.

The Living Room is an ultra chic lounge and a great place to hang out for a cocktail, quick snack, high tea or tapas by night. By the second night, the bar staff knew our names and also our favourite cocktail (a must try is the lychee mojito!). The staff here really went above and beyond to see how our day was and to make sure we were enjoying our trip at all times.

Four nights at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap was definitely not enough and I can’t wait to go back. GM Sholto Smith and his team have done an amazing job and the service is 5 star from the minute you arrive till the moment you leave. Definitely a winner!
