This French-inspired cocktail and whisky bar is a saviour during unpredictable weather. The unassuming outdoor terrace is covered, offering refuge through rainy days (and the sweltering sun). The Happy Hour starts at 5pm every weekday, and the shim cocktails (with a slightly kinder alcohol content) promise to give you the kick without knocking you off your barstool.
Located on the 32nd floor of the EAST Hotel, this spacious outdoor terrace has a view from every angle. The drink menu features an extensive selection of martinis and mojitos, amongst all sorts of summery cocktails and draft beer. Grab your crew and settle under the umbrella-covered patio sofas for a lazy evening. If you’re not opting for the Bento Surf & Turf box (one of our favourites), the pizza and chips are an easy win.
Top Tip: The accommodating staff here even offer up blankets when it gets chilly! You’ll find me huddled under one with a glass of red when January rolls around.
Address: 32/F, East Hotel, 29 Tai Koo Shing Road, Tai Koo, Hong Kong
With laidback vibes and mouth-watering food options, Beef & Liberty’s rooftop garden is a favourite for out-of-town friends and locals alike. This modest joint is complete with a foosball table, fairy lights, and all the nibbles your heart desires. The Happy Hour runs every Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm to 8pm, where you get two-for-one drinks and free selected snacks!
Top tip: What’s a beer without a burger? In other words, don’t leave without trying the food. The new Soft Shell Crab Burger and the Warm Cookie Skillet are my current favourites.

Looking for sky-high sophistication? This place is well known for a reason. With a 360-degree balcony, Sevva offers a front and centre view of surrounding skyscrapers and the Hong Kong harbour. The convenient location (slap-bang in the middle of Central) offers a chic lounge area and award-winning cocktails.
Top tip: The 25th-floor perspective is a great spot for visiting guests to check out but this place is pretty much always packed. Opt for the afternoon tea if you’re looking for something quieter.
Address: Princes Building, 25/F, 10 Chater Road, Central, Hong Kong
Set over Ovolo Hotel in Wong Chuk Hang, ABOVE is an edgy rooftop bar featuring panoramic views, inventive cocktails, and edgy street artwork. The partially-indoor, partially-outdoor venue is great for private events. The outdoor area seats just under 50 people, and it caters to everything from big birthday bashes to corporate seminars.
Top Tip: For a secluded affair, the private terrace seats 17.

Follow the dimly lit staircase up and you’ll be welcomed by a chic and spacious (5,000 square feet, to be exact!) terrace. Make yourself at home on the comfy outdoor couches and take your pick from the globally inspired menu – featuring both, Italian and Asian delicacies.
Top tip: The “after brunch parties” run from 3pm to 7pm every Sunday and offer free flow Peroni, Prosecco and selected cocktails.

#10 Wooloomooloo (Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and TST)
Wooloomooloo offers three prime (pun intended…) locations. The Causeway Bay resto is spread across two floors, with both boasting a terrace space. For a more relaxed outdoor area, the Wan Chai location on the 31st floor offers plenty of space to lounge alfresco. And last, but not least, you really do get the best view of Hong Kong Island from Tsim Sha Tsui. Head straight to the quaint, intimate (read: small) balcony, and set yourself up for a world-class view.
Top tip: The cooling gin and tonics are served in generous goblets – a foolproof option for our warm summer nights! Oh, and the floor-to-ceiling windows are a bonus for diners looking to enjoy the view AND aircon.
