The sun’s officially out, which means bikini season is upon us. But whereas others might be looking to look as yummy as a snack for the summer, you’ll find us – and other like-minded foodies – roaming the streets in search for a snack. Nay, a meal, if we’re honest.
New opening: Trattoria del Pescatore
Popular Milanese seafood restaurant Trattoria del Pescatore has expanded to the shores of Hong Kong. The 42-year-old family-run restaurant is known for its traditional Sardinian dishes, such as spaghetti with clams and mullet roe.
It is also known for starting its own traditions, such as serving fresh Pecorino cheese carved out of its round after the main course, as well as ending the meal with a shot of iced Mirto, a classic Sardinian liquor. Recommended dishes include lobster Catalana, paccheri del pescatore, pistachio-gratin scallop, and raw tuna belly on caramelised peppers.

The Flying Elk
The Flying Elk has landed in Hong Kong. The restaurant is helmed by three Michelin-starred chef, Bjorn Frantzén, the brains behind restaurant Frantzén in Stockholm. Frantzén is known for his daring approach to traditional Nordic cuisine, modernising it with culinary influence gathered from all over Europe.
The emblem for The Flying Elk, an elk wearing a crown, is directly born from old Swedish folklore, which tells the tale of a magical elk that flew over the forests of Jämtland. It is also the name of Frantzén’s gastropub in Stockholm. The restaurant in Hong Kong promises good-sized dishes meant for sharing and made with both local and Nordic ingredients.
Highlights of the menu include roasted elk sirloin with Frantzén’s own hot sauce, bitter salad and jus roti and umami salad with duck confit, shiitake, smoked pecorino, crispy onions and umami dressing, as well as the halibut paired with sherry and beurre noisette hollandaise, pork belly, broccoli and hazelnut.
